After working for 8 years in a United States company, at the end of 2015 the company's business continued to decline, so it occurred to me to start a side business that would not interfere with my work.

At that time, I had a German friend who lived in Berlin and was a photographer, and part of his studio was a place where LEGO toys were sold. Then I studied the LEGO market in Hong Kong, and it happened that at that time LEGO became one of the most popular toys for adults in Hong Kong. The price of LEGO toys has also soared, especially LEGO types that are no longer produced or with a limited amount of production.

Then I learned about the ups and downs of LEGO prices, because some types of LEGO can change very much in 1 week. Once I got the hang of LEGO types and prices, I tried to import some LEGO types in collaboration with a German friend and also contacted some LEGO sellers in Europe and the United States to take stock from them. The types of LEGO that I took ranged from the smallest, a minifigure with limited production, to the largest size with almost 5000 pieces.

Work alone, from picking up goods at the post office to meeting customers

Once the goods arrived in Hong Kong, in order to save costs, I sometimes used the impulse to pick up the items from the post office, which was only 100 meters from home. The road between the house and the post office is an uphill road with packages that sometimes weigh more than 50kg. Then I do an inventory and start selling it through websites or social media. After receiving the order from the customer, I will immediately deliver it to the MTR station after work. If the customer orders in large quantities, then I only do the transaction under the house. The highest record is a buyer at the same time ordering 100 pieces of LEGO Ghostbusters cars at the same time for investment. At that time, LEGO buyers thought that some types of LEGO would continue to increase in price.

At that time, every day after I got home from work, I used 2 hours to take care of this LEGO business and then go back to the office or continue with office tasks at home.

The world economy is starting to deteriorate

After I ran this LEGO business for 1 year, the world economy began to enter a declining stage. This has made LEGO sales around the world decrease drastically. The LEGO company also tried to produce some old LEGO types back with different serial numbers and packaging designs, which also made the price of old LEGO decrease drastically.

After selling all the remaining LEGOs, I only imported the LEGO type of minifigure. The price of the minifigure is still good because the price is not too high. Soon, there was a currency war in the world, which caused the price difference between LEGO and Europe and Hong Kong to become even thinner. Since then, I have decided to end the LEGO sales business.
