 Finally the Dell Poweredge T410 server delivered after the short delay caused by Typhoon in Mainland China. It takes 6 working days from I ordered the server from Dell until delivered to my home.
The server packed with very huge box, it's biggest branded server packing box I ever seen so far, my parents though I was ordered the air-conditioner. The T410 server I ordered come with following items:
- Intel Dual Core E5502 Xeon CPU 1.86GHz, 4M Cache
- Broadcom NetXtreme II Dual-Port Gigabit Enthernet without TOE
- 160GB SATA II Hard Drive x1
- PERC 6/i Integrated Raid Card (support RAID0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and 50)
- iDRAC6 Express
- 4GB Memory (2x2GB), 1066MHz, ECC Dual Ranked UDIMMS
- 16x DVD-ROM Drive
- Power Supply, Non-Redundant, 525W
It also comes with 3 years (5x12) 4 hours onsite support service. Inside box it only includes the Server unit, two power cords, and Dell OpenManager DVD with electronic documents.
For hard drive, I purchased six 500GB Western Digital RE3 SATA hard drive from local computer shop and do RAID50 (RAID5 + RAID0). The Dell 160GB SATA hard drive come with the server I will use it as external backup drive for my workstation.
Operating system I will install 64bit CentOS 5.3 Linux. Tips for CentOS 5.3 installation and hardening will be discuss later in next articles.
