From Reykjavic we can take the domestic plane, Air Iceland or ferry boat, Herjolfur to Vestmannaeyjar, and I chose one way to the plane, the return by ferry ferry boat, so that you can enjoy the skyview of Vestmannaeyjar and wonderful seaview around Vestmannaeyjar.  I have booked tickets on advice from Internet make sure I got seats on the transportations, especially Hong Kong relatively less holiday compare with some other countries.  Don't ever miss any transportation schedule in Iceland, otherwise you may need wait for more than 1 day to get another.

Arrived at domestic airport in Reykjavik about 7:30 am , I still have 1.5 hours from flight take-off.  I took some pictures around the runway before I get in the plane.  The plane have about 14 seats, and already fully occupied,  I think I should the only one overseas visitor. The flight only take about 25 minutes from Reykjavik to Vestmannaeyjar, when get off from plane, I saw a very barren place, but fortunately guest house owner picking up me at the airport. Guest house owner is a very nice woman originate from Germany, she met her husband when she traveling in Vestmannaeyjar for about 20 years ago, then she decided to stay in Vestmannaeyjar, and operate a guest house.  When I arrived in guest house, she made a hot chocolate and give me some biscuits for me, and we start talking about why she decided to stay in Iceland and ask me about living in Hong Kong.  At that time I'm the only visitor in her guest house.

After say good bye to guest house owner, I started my tour across whole island (except the southern part). What we must visit is volcano that erupted on 1973.  There really no human and animal during my way to the volcano, and the scenery about the volcano just like you visiting planet Mars.  Nearby I see the very big football, as high as human, Vestmannaeyjar people must a biggest football fans in Iceland!  After that I go to other parts and take some lunch and rest (an Energy Bar and a Chocolate Bar).

Before back to the hote, I went to one restaurant serving Puffin bird meat as meal , that's the one of the traditional Iceland food we must try.  I orderd the smoke Puffin bird meat with salad (HK $ 400).  I think that's the worst taste food I ever have, maybe I'm not used to have traditional Icelandic food!

I get up very early morning on next day because I need to take a ferry boat go back to Rekyjavik, so after I finish breakfast in guest house then immediately go out for southern part trip, we need spend about 5-6 hours for round trip.  There is very strong wind all along the way, plus the cold temperature almost under zero degree celcius, it definately stronger than strongest typhoon that we feel in Hong Kong.

On the way back to the hotel I start packing up and say good bye to nice guest house owner.  During the way back to Reykjavik, there is a lot of seagulls accompany our ferry.

On part 2, we will go to 2nd largest city in Iceland, Akureyri.
