The second largest city in Iceland located at the northest part with population about 17,000 people. One of the most popular landmark is the largest Church in Iceland, Akureyrarkirkja.
From Reykjavik to Akureyri, the flight takes about 60 minutes. After arrival, I took taxi to guest house located in the city center, distance is about in Hong Kong from Causeway Bay to Central, but it already cost me more than HK$ 100! The check-in time for guest house is about 11am, and I arrived too early, so I carrying my heavy backpack and walk around the city (just like walking in the small town rather tan "city"). Morning time is very quiet, I saw only few mothers taking their baby car on the streets. Finally 11am, go back to guest house and check-in, take a hot shower, dropping my heavy backpack and take a short break, and then go to steak house nearby to try the first class beef steak imported from other European countries. Although I choose one of the cheapest meal, but it is so delicious, so far the best beef steak I ever have (the reason maybe I never try the expensive beef steak in Hong Kong, ha ha!), The waiters are very polite, they thought I'm come from Japan because most of the Asian tourist are from Japan.
After finish the value HK$300 beef steak lunch meal, and then I going to the lake side, I met a father with his children fishing, and there was one old man try to talk to me in Icelandic and body language, although not understand, he still feel very interested to try to communicate with me, and then I give a pen with Hong Kong scenery on it to him as souvenier. Later on, I continue my trip to Iceland's largest church, Akureyrarkirkja. On the way to the church, I see one computer accessories and supplies shop and one young shop worker asked me what kind of camera I using, I replied it's the Minolta Dynax 7 film camera, but seem he don't know camera brand called Minolta (in my observation, seem they only selling Canon and Nikon for SLR camera), then he open his cabinet dan show me his Canon DSLR camera, and then spent almost an hour talking about photography. He is a freelance photographer and he took a lots of good photography works for some publications. Until now we still always exchanging photography and web design knowledge. It's almost dawn when I arrived at Akureyrarkirkja, along the way around is very quiet, and I'm the only person at that time around the church.
After the Akureyrarkirkja photo shooting, I go back to the lake side to take some night photos of lake side, on the way I met some teenagers and they're quite interesting on Hong Kong and we are exchanging emails, and one of them ask me a funny question "Is Hong Kong belong to Japan"?! Finally arrive at lake side, the scenery is so beautiful, sky without pollution is really blue, and the moon light make the mountains figure so clear.
It's almost 11pm when I'm back to the guest house, take hot showers and preparing stuffs for tomorrow trip, Myvatn.
